Welcome to Accelerator HQ – Stephen Wilson's online home.
Steve is a designer living and working in Leeds, United Kingdom. Originally trained as a fine artist, in 2001, Steve opened a copy of Flash and never looked back. Having quickly worked out how to make a ball bounce from one side of a 15" CRT display to the other, he thumbed through several ActionScript books until there was no gotoAndPlay left in him.
Steve is now proficient in several languages including JavaScript, PHP and SQL. Where possible, he encourages the use of open source software alternatives. Steve spends his work time helping clients achieve clean, effective, online communications.
Oh, and Steve now works with a lovely 30" Apple Cinema Display!

University of LeedsWe have to use the purple! Okay, so the purple was a keeper – but let's give the old site a bit of a facelift. Important information is now highlighted with a punchy lime green whilst your day-to-day stuff sits against a charcoal grey background. A centrally positioned JavaScript carousel ensures the right information will always get to the right people. Watch this space - Accommodation Services will soon have a new website within University brand. |
DVLAThis just in! Last week (04.04.08) DVLA launched the 'Last Chance' Electronic Vehicle Licensing email campaign. Working with their marketing department, I developed a series of email templates. As a result, customer uptake is set to improve significantly on last year's figures. Now, in collaboration with DVLA and a leading car manufacturer, we're developing a prize draw microsite. |
Leeds College of Building **NEW**Leeds College of Building needed a new front-end and a more intuitive way of updating their course information. After nearly two months hard work and a lot of database restructuring, I delivered a skeleton content managed site (main content populated by client) complete with dynamic 'flexible flash navigation' system. View the skeleton site here. |
University of LeedsMaps are great – the challenge was to take an existing flat graphic and give it the 'flash treatment'. So you're new to Leeds and want a brief introduction to what accommodation is available. Do you want catered of self-catered? How about city-centre living or would you prefer to be on-campus? With all this in mind, I built a scalable flash application which, through the wonders of ActionScript, can even tell you where the nearest pub is! |
